Jackbass for PM?

By TriniCan - Posted on 27 October 2007

It is rather troubling that the UNC loyal "grassroots" have been made to believe that the only issue in this election is "unity" of the UNC tribe. Translated it means the Jahaji bhais and bahins have to vote like a robotic block for the UNC. In doing so the following types of behaviour by their politicians are validated. The conduct of those who committed the following crimes against the best interest of its supporters and the citizens of the country will then be legitimized.

- derailed the government after only 9 months in office due to ambition, the only thing that has proven bigger than their egos

- took 'scholarship' from the parasitic oligarchy

- played golf while Caroni Ltd was being left in its final throes of life

- allowed an untimely return of PNM to power, which resulted in the subsequent closure of Caroni, the rolling back of the many equity policies and practices which allowed previously discrimated group to have a role in public service.

- provided no long lasting benefit to its loyal supporters having fretted away 6 years of opportunity because Bas and Ramesh children had a quarrel.

- betrayed the trust of its grassroots supporters

After all of this the same grassroots have come to believe that this type of behaviour is normal in politics; this is the greatest tradegy. Its like asking a battered wife to stay together for the sake of the children only to be murdered at the next opportunity. So have Jackbass for PM Mr & Mrs Grassroots, perhaps you deserve each other.

Your point is well taken TriniCan, your message is clear, but our people are stuck not only on "status quo", but are actually moving backwards in "time".!

...that also includes the "UNC-A" Leadership, who have the UNC die hards mesmerized in "what we used to be", and "what we have done for the past so many many years" and "we now have to unite" and stick together to beat the enemy, the PNM!.

...COP in their eyes is the "fly in the ointment" and the "neemakharam" , the "cause" that stand between their victory and beating the "enemy" the PNM, according to their illustrious "co-leaders" "Jackbass"...!

...time is running out, but they continue their march "backwards" into the past, as their "masters re-inforce their beliefs" that only "they" are the WARRIORS that can save the country, only "they" can "slay the beast", just like in the "fairy tales and nancy stories" that we read as children!....

...the Co-Leaders would like to keep them "always thinking like children", its their recipe for their "success".!

...if the "status quo" is acceptable to them, if even after all the signs are pointing out clearly where the country is heading with the current PNM regime, and if the people feel that this is the best way to go into the future, then they are truly blind like bats and are being lead like lambs to the slaughter by their "pied piper" co-leaders....this surely  spells the "doom" of my country and my people collectively. The final pathway to dictatorship or was it "executive presidency''?

...and to this, I will lay the blame squarely not at the feet of Manning et al alone, but on Panday and his cohorts also, for bringing and imposing "the second era of slavery, bondage and oppression", especially for the "Indo Trinis", for thats what will happen, if "status quo" is allowed to proceed onwards unchecked...!

...after all, with all the crime, hardships for food and daily necessities, the gross neglect and incompetence by the PNM regime, not to forget graft and corruption, its like its already almost there, in so much that many are already leaving for other lands with their children. Such a crying shame for such a wealthy country.!

...so yes, TriniCan, as you rightly put it, they truly deserve each other, they have after all these years of Panday brainwashing, stopped thinking for themselves, and have created a common inter-dependency on him and each other, that they can't let go and think and act on their own volition anymore.!

...in closing and to borrow Captain Walker's column headliner, "Dumb asses, Zimbabwe here we come".....! ready or not!

I too hope I'm very very wrong!

goodluck and godbless you all my friends...!

Trini.t.o.o.

Hey Anand, did you really thief  that money from Petrotrin, better explain with proof man, real hard proof.

Such integrity in COP!

You better lieten to the UNC platform thsi week, as we expose Dooks for the tehief and traitor taht he is. Even his own nephew is condemning him.

What is your opinion on Dooks plan to streal the UNC leadership long before the UNC internal elections??? DIABOLICAL! Wonder why you still following this loser!

What about all those secret COP meeetings with the PNM??

How do you respond to your leader and chairman saying it is better to vote for the PNM than the UNCA ??

You gone PNM?? My my how low have you fallen.

Scholar

Captain Walker's picture

Scholar boy, is dat you boy? You arskin' fuh proof, boy? Real hard proof? How you could arks for dem kinda t'ing when you never provide hard proof on anything that you spout?

Dat eh fair! In fact you eh need proof to 'convict' anybody - jes' tell dem like it is, man! Remember, you know everything. So no proof necessary. Eh?

What is the truth boy scholar? Tell we nah man! Defame Anand name; leh he sue yuh backside good and proper. Go for it. Doh hesitate now. Declare yuh independence and omniscience once again!!

I dont have to provide proof, Anand has to provide proof to counteract this allegation from Ramesh. The same way he accused panday of closing caroni and then proceeded to provide so called proof, which made no sense.

I am simply calling upon anand to respond to these allegations.

Captain Walker's picture

Yeah but Scholar, how you could demand proof - at thing dat you doh ever provide. Seems kinda stange. That the one who never provides evidence, proof or rationale should now ask another to provide it in his own defence.

Sorry eef, dat strainin' yuh brain? Brain? Sorry ah didn' know...okay yuh excused.

I not asking people to vote for me , Anand is!!! He has to defend himself or look like a loser which he is doing right now. and so too you if i may add.

TriniCan's picture

Justice requires that the one making the accusation is the one required to provide the proof, before a judge of the facts. If the citizens under a Jackbass government would be guilty for each time Jackbass or some one of their mafia ass ociates flings mud, then that is going to be an awful lot of people. This is what Jackbass and company is dependant upon an unthinking mass of people who are unable to critically think through issues and simply go on the basis on "authority" of the one making the allegations as proof. When your neighbour see your daughter speaking to the postman and then spreads rumours in the village about her, you have your proof what she was up to, right. As ridiculous as this sounds, similar is the ridiculous nature of your statement that you are free to fling mud at anybody then ask them to prove you wrong. Any responsible person who is seeking office to make laws for the citizens of their country will not be so scandalous in conduct. Any citizen who is seeking to give that power to legislate should be very fearful in relinquishing this into the hands of people who can take away people's rights every time they open their mouths.

Captain Walker's picture

Yeah..but in bananaland, whey monkey island justice (according to Jumbie) operates, you t'ink dey business wid dat?

Leh meh tell yuh TriniCan how it is in bananaland. Dey make dee accusation, dey decide i's dee truth, dey fine (aka find) yuh guilty no ass, and choomat wid (real) justice - i's fuh dee accused already found guilty to prove he innocent. Remember dis is monkey island justice - dis is a brand of justice dat is good for banana-eaters (wid small minds). Get it?

Well dee obvious exceptions are obviously eeef yuh name is Basdeo Panday or Ramesh Maharaj - well den yuh innocent all dee time, no matter what.

So yuh t'ink poor scholar go understan' all dem 'whiteman' kinda talk 'bout justice an' t'ing? Doh strain dee man brain, please.

Captain Walker's picture

Yes scholar, but it is unfair that you demand proof in another when that demand is founded on a principle you don't subscribe to. Dat so hard fuh yuh to grasp, eh boy.

I'm overjoyed to hear it is not you going up for election! Best news I've had this month.

So thats how u call the land of your birth bananaland - u so called failures gone to another man country because you cannot woirk hard here, so u gone to clean white people filth and then turn around and cuss the land of your birth, wow!! thats all I have to say.

I really do not need to participate in this blog again. Anand deserves maha neemakharams like you all.

have fun with your new freinds anand.

Captain Walker's picture

And what bananland could banana-man (aka scholar) be referring to? I wasn't even born in Trinidad! I am now told I am cussing the land of my birth. Oh golly gee!! Scholar want to tell me what land ah born in now! Dee man is psychotic! QED.

Scholar, I tried my best not to get in the midst of your verbal garbage contest, as I have come to realize that to date, you have not provided a "single original thought of you own" or for that matter, anything of value to the debates here, very much unlike the others on this site!.

All you have been spouting and ranting all along are "things that are fed to you by your "massa", and without any forethought, you simply regurgitate them word for word on this site. (see my previous review & analysis of your contributions)!

It reminds me of one of my favourite authors Robert Frost, who said: "Half the world is made up of people who have something to say and can't, and the other half of people who have nothing to say and keep saying it."

Quite frankly, I believe you are the "other half"!

Then there is also another saying, that I should let you in on:

"Resentment is having someone live in your head "rent-free"!

You have been afflicted by a "condition" and, I must say that I think that you seriously need help, lots of help and soon!

The sooner the better, ok?

And in the meantime, try not to listen to Panday et al for too long periods at a time or even for a while, you will get some instant relief, including from the stench too, if not cured for good, once and for all.!

Do give it a try for your own sake, you owe it to yourself, after all, you have nothing more to lose.!

goodluck! Trini.t.o.o.

I second that....that guy is frightening....that's the closest I ever got to any sycophant....and thank God...the closest I'd ever want to be. That person seems wild just saying meaningless things or ranting on things he hears either on radio or at meetings which he attends. This guy seems suicidal after of course he takes a few lives. I think it is in his best interest that he spends some time away from the politics for a while. He's irrational and foolish (since he likes to call everybody else that). He's unable to cope with the fact that UNC-A cannot win the elections and he's looking for someone to blame for that as per the brainwashing he received. No one has to be a COP supporter to see that. That is as plain as the 'rising sun' for anyone to see. Not everyone who sees that is a COP supporter.

Jumbie's picture

I for one am thankful for Scholar. Let me explain.

When I was younger, when I first paid attention to politics, growing into the age of being able to cast my first vote, I listened to the people of my village (incidently, Scholar, a village in Débé) and their reasons for voting UNC.

I must mention that the councillor for Débé is a staunch UNC man, also as sharp as the back end of an axe and about as much help. Since I saw no reason for him to be elected time and time again, I often got into arguments with some of the older people... who despite admitting his usefullness as about the same as a torn jockeyshorts, kept voting for him, because he represented the UNC, and which in turn represented 'we people'.

I voted for PNM in my first local election. I am not ashamed to say it. I saw that ANYONE might be better than him. Now, Débé has grown DESPITE this man, who only obtains assistance for those who suck up to him.

However, getting back to Scholar, maybe it has been too many years since, but I forgot the mindset of people who follow like sheep, without having the benefit of independent thinking.

Clearly, Scholar will apply bias to me. I do not however, apply the term 'independent thinking' to mean that someone should vote COP, or PNM, or NJAC etc anything but UNC. I mean, in every sense of the words, that one should look at the issues, examine them, investigate the pros and cons and then rationalise a long term vision of where the destination to each party (and their principles) lie. Of course, this rationalisation has to take into account the history of the party, the people behind the party, and whether they are worthy of the consideration we afford them.

So far as my thinking permits, I simply do not see the UNC as a viable alternative to the PNM. Not that I agree the PNM is doing a good job.. far from it. In fact, I think that the UNC might be a better choice than the PNM. Choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea as it were.. but along comes COP and offers an open road...

I for one do not know where this road may lead. The journey may be filled with hardship, and the destination may be a pitfall.

But I would rather take my chance on that journey and hope for a beautiful vista at the end, than to choose the present dangers.

I think this might be what Scholar and his cohorts are afraid of. Human nature being what it is, they are not adventurous enough or perhaps too fearful, to move into the unknown. Perhaps the devil you know than the one you don't, a rather negative attitude, but a real one nevertheless. And one which has always held us back from achieving true potential in every manner.

So I am grateful to Scholar, for showing me why my loyalty is sometimes frustrating, and why I am understanding this elections and issues better, and understanding my parents and their friends better. I can see the brainwashing that took place and the difficulty they have in changing.

For those of you who disagree with Scholar, keep your thoughts focused on issues, rather than attack the man. He can't help being the way he is, any more than I can stop rationalising.

Captain Walker's picture

I agree with Jumbie why we should appreciate 'scholar'. The choice between the 'devil' and another is congruent with what I know (see: Supremely Dohtish...Devil or Deep Blue?).

And digging a bit deeper. Thinking independently is what scholar may think (and know) he is doing. To himself he will believe he is an independent thinker - as much as any lunatic on the side of the street (no, I'm not saying he is a lunatic). What I'm saying is that he will share the same misguided perception as any average lunatic about being an independent thinker. So what's the fundamental difference between scholars, lunatics and the 'jumbies' of this of this world?

To me the difference is what I had tried to demonstrate all along. By showing scholar a pattern to what he was doing, I thought he would wake up. Two patterns stand out. 1) He became predictable; the one I referred to as 'spit and lick' - whcih became 'sulk, spit and lick'. 2) He demonstrated much difficulty seeing a basic problem, i.e. demanding a principle from another when he did not subscribe or demonstrate the same principle in his own operations.

So what does this lead me to. It leads me to a fundamental failure of 'self-awareness'. If scholar was self-aware he perhaps might see, acknowledge or admit that there was an arguable case on certain criticisms made of him or his beliefs.

The next fundamental failure is 'cock-sureness'. This is a thing that blinds people to new information and different ways of looking at an issue or problem. And once you are cock sure of something you are then oblivious and unreceptive to evidence, weighing evidence etc etc. And of course if one is unreceptive the evidence that one may need to weigh in the balance, never comes to one's notice in the first place.

All the above leads scholar to be intolerant of criticism - and the pattern emerges where he simply reacts by sulking and walking off.

So to add to what Jumbie said. I believe the foundation of independent thinking requires one to have a good degree of 'self-awareness' and a receptiveness to new information. Receptiveness does not mean (and I explain in case scholar is reading this) being gullible.

Well the above is not meant to 'cure' the scholars of this world. I only hope it awakens something in them - something desperately needed in this election.

NEW POLITICS: This is the mantra and the hotbed of hatred upon which the COP was built, the politics they say of integrity, honesty, transparency and non tribal. Note neither the PNM nor the UNCA have made any claims to new politics.

So here are the facts regarding new politics according to Winston Dookeran and which you misguided or totally idiotic people support. Take your pic of adjective, I will be generous today.

1. Appoint Hulsie as a candidate - " african males are raping indian women all over the country", Campaigning in Guyana for Burnham againts Cheddi Jagan.

2. Appoint Devant Maharaj as a candidate - "Africans should not be given land in Central" plus many more too numerous to mention even against Muslims.

3. Appoint Sadiq as campaign manager - on $1M bail plus have allegation of corruption pending.

4. Appoint Ganga Singh as a candidate - allegations of corruption pending on teh desal plant.

5. Appoint Jonathan Stone as a candidate - ex jailbird who served his time but have the audacity to call Panday a jailbird when the courts have exonerated him thus far.

6. Appoint Inshan as a platform speaker - who uses his religious station licence to unethically and soon to be proven illegally uses his station to spout the most despicable comments on several people and institutions supposedly opposed to the COP - was fired as a commentator on Shakti because he he called the PM a "baboon" and when asked to apologise publicly refused to do so. He continues on a daily basis to cause division amongst peole of different religions and causes.

7. Solicit support of Sat Maharaj who then procceds to use his radio station which was granted as a religious licensed station to spout just as despicable lyrics in support of the COP whiclst continuing to cause division amongst different groupings.

8. Appoint candidates who use the most distastefull and utterly unethical methods in their campaign. Not even the PNM in their worst days have even stooped so low.  These are using the SDMS schools to distribute COP propaganda to teh students to give to their parents - how low can anyone stoop - this is new politics??? Use cars with Mikes to park in the rural areas during the day and "bad talk personal stuff" regarding opposition candidates. Openly using swear words in the local campaign in the rural areas via teh Mikes with no regard for little children.

 9. Appoint Larry Achong as campaign manager for his Wife - a man who was seen on national television supposedly drunk and CUSSING a member of the audience for not supporting  the smelter plants.

10. Appoint Anand Ramlogan a candidate - a man who referred to anyone supporting the UNC as a "backward coolie" and who just a mere 6 months earlier was probably the MOST PUBLIC and most vociferous supporter of Panday and the UNC. What a turnaround - Luckily Anand discovered his alleigance to new politics according to Dookeran and switched. Wonder what Gillian Lucky thinks of this.

11. They are spending just as much as teh UNC and the PNM on this camapign. We know the PNM money coming from the treasury and the UNC from Jack and most recentlly from numerous local businessmen smart enough to realise the tide has turned and are coming back. Where is the COP money coming from ??? We know about the local casino industry, wonder which other public perception "unreputable" type of buisneses they are coming from.

12. Secretly meets with top officials of the PNM during the campaign season yet misleading their GULLIBLE supporters into thinking their goal is to get rid of the PNM.

13. Dookeran was graciously handed the political leader of the UNC by Panday who in his usual style of giving up leadership fro the greater good as he did in 86 to Robinson. This time Dookeran upon being confirmed that he will be unopposed as the political leader in the internal elections IMMEDIATELY as his first act called a meeting of all the OLD NAR members and creatd a team called teh "rogressives" to campaign thus creating division within the UNC membership - wow, what leadership skills! Panday had no choice but to craete the Patriots team as it was too late to stop the elections.  Therein flows all that happened and why Panday had no choice but to stay on and fight for the ordinary people of this country. You expect me to support such treachery!! I am a simple man but I have understanding and a brain of my own. I can see and read and understand and be able to pick sense from nonsense. I do not jude by looking at one side only unlike most of you.

14. Are any of you following the campaigns in the local constituencies? - even nonpartisan reporters are indicating that the most vile campaigning and the most vulgar things are coming from the local COP campaigns ( not the national platfrom ) - at a level never ever seen in this country before, not even during the 1970s.

 14. Finally for now PLEASE take a good look at the Leadership of the COP - look at each and every individual - not all those bright young candidates who have fallen for the talk without really analysing before making their decsion, or if they did, having done so without getting all sides. What is the common denominator amongst them - They all HATE PANDAY or RAMESH or JACK or KAMLA or the UNC - its a party build on hatred and any institution built on such principles is destined to fail.

People this has been long and at this point there is nothing more left for me to say.

Let's be pragmatic here. I have read and heard all you had to say and you have read all I have to say. It's been fun and interesting. At times I have had to "prod" you with ceratin statements to see how you would react and I am sure you have done the same to me. From my perspective I wanted to analyse how people are thinking and why they think the way they do. I wish there were more voices on this blog for a wider perspective to be gained. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. I am going to be very busy for the next few days campaigning and lending support to Wade Mark in PAP. I truly hope for the sake of TNT that the UNCA wins. My gut feeling is they will.

I believe if they dont I along with the entire population will see from the results that the reason they did not is because the COP took more votes from the UNC than from the PNM and would be the ENTIRE reason the PNM is still in power.

I sincerly want to beleive that my people ( translated as being born here :) ) are smarter than they are given credit for and will see through the "maya" that is the COP. "Maya means illusion in hindi.

If the COP wins this election, I PROMISE you I will do like all of you and migrate forever, never to return. I mean it. I can see some of you smiling and waiting at the airport to say I told you so.. I doubt it really.

People, thanks for the dialogue and I will see you again on Monday, maybe Tuesday.

Anand, you have been my biggest dissapointment in this elections. You have lost a fan forever despite how many more cases you might win in the future.

Regards

Scholar

Scholar... all I have read this last month coming from you is a lot of UNC propaganda..nothing else... what I see from you is exactly what Panday is saying everyday... "COP is the enemy"...  wake up its Patrick Manning who is the enemy... he will appoint himself President for life... all the venom you have peen spouting against Winston Dookeran shoud be pointed towards Manning and the PNM... you have lost track of the job at hand and that is ridding the country of an impending dictatorship....and as far as blaming the COP for splitting the votes for not joining the UNC...  why did they not join with the COP instead?.

Captain Walker's picture

There is a clear change of the use of language in scholar's post that leads one to suspect that 'he' is not just one person putting these comments up.

There is a marked variation in the above post, in terms of organisation and style, from the scholar we usually know.

There is a remarkable variation and improvement in syntax as well. I suspect there are a bunch of people working with scholar to cause chaos and confusion.

Whatever the case they are making themselves look more foolish if they represent UNC-A values and thinking.

Scholar, I'm truly dissappointed that you show no value for "true democracy", which includes "the freedom to think and speak", but then I am not surprised since you don't live in an evironment of "true democracy" anyway now, and yet to get worse after this election, if certain events were to come to pass.

All of that which you have mentioned, includes the "freedom to choose" and I have great respect for that even if I personally disagree with them. But then I live in a "free society" where the constitution and the laws permit me those unfettered "freedoms" & rights", including mutual respect, without hindrance in anyway.

Right now you "believe" you have those said freedoms, but you live within an environment of "restrictions" and cannot see anything beyond that which you are surrounded. Such a pity!

In this regard, I will share with you "the analogy of the caves":

... in which an entire village lived in a dark cave underground, and every morning they got up and walked around in a circle behind each other, looking at their shadows on the wall coming from a single candle which was lit and placed in the middle of the circle.

Anyone who disobeyed the "leader" was punished by being "evicted" and "banished" from the cave, never to return again.!

This "ritual" was done every single day, until one day, a young man who was encouraged by his father to leave the cave, if he wanted a better life, got up and asked the "leader" if they could do something differently for a change,....!

.... and the "leader" immediately "evicted and banished" him from the cave, no questions asked.!

... how dare he challenge the "leader's wisdom and authority"?

The village people were afraid to say anything, but were very sad to see the young man "evicted and banished", as he packed up and left the cave.

But when the young man went outside to the surface he was astonished beyond belief.!

He saw the sun in the blue skies, the clouds, the trees, with fruits and flowers, the birds singing and flying around, the valleys and the mountains, the lakes and the rivers with fishes, and all the wonderful world that nature had made for us, he could not believe his eyes.!

...he also saw and met other people, and spoke to them too!...yet despite their differences in looks and language, they were very kind to him...and listened to him..something he was not used to..something that was very strange to him...!

...such "beauty", such peacefulness, and such "freedom"! "true freedom", that is!....

He ran right back into the cave and shouted to the people in the village he had left behind, "that there was a whole "new world outside" if only they would come and join him, it was such a "wonderful place to experience" such happiness and joy and especially for the children and the old and the sick, such a place of peace and happiness.....!

....and the "leader" told the village people don't listen to him, just as he had told them, the "young man had gone plumb crazy" and he wanted all of them to go crazy too, so just ignore him and continue to "dance around the candle" in the cave and their lives would be ok, he would see to it...!trust him...! just like they always do...!and to evict the young man again, stone him out of the cave, he was crazy....and they did too!

...and so the young man left and went out to the "outer world" and on to the wonderful things he met out there...but he could not forget the village he left behind "dancing in the dark around a single candle lit in the cave", and "kept in line by a selfish leader"!...never to see daylight for the rest of their lives!

I just thought I'd share this story with you "scholar", because thats exactly how I feel about you and my people, who are being kept in the dark by a selfish leader, "never to see daylight again"!

I hope one day you too will choose to leave the cave, if you can build up the courage to ignore the selfish leader, and to lead our people out into "broad daylight" and into the sunshine and on to "true freedom"!...on to a "new world"!

It is never too late to do it!

goodluck! Trini.t.o.o.
